Adedeji Adetoyi is a Nigerian young researcher, climate action and sustainability advocate with a vast experience in Clean Energy and Climate. Born in Akure, Ondo State. Nigeria, He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Meteorology and Climate Science from the Federal University of Technology Akure, Ondo State. Nigeria (FUTA) in 2016 and a Master’s Degree in Renewable Energy from Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (Nigeria) in 2021. In addition, he’s presently attached to Energy Commission of Nigeria as a Research Assistant (Intern). He is currently working to bridge and integrate a gender -balanced workforce in the DRE Sector in Nigeria with the help of International Partners.
Incentivized by the importance of Quality Education in the current environmental situation and future industry trends, he co-founded an IReadtoLive Initiative (ireadtolive.org) where providing high school and young students with the skills and knowledge required to effectively localize Agenda 2030, and recently Clean Energy Youth Hub which cultivates the next generation of youth and young leaders and keen on gender inclusion, to increase investments in research, development and demonstration of energy technologies contributing to the energy transition and accelerating Climate Adaptation in cities. He was awarded as Best Innovative Graduate Intern during his compulsory service year at Sokoto Energy Research Center, Energy Commission of Nigeria.
From early 2019, Adedeji has been heavily involved in the multilateral arena working on youth empowerment for climate action through his work with various stakeholders to encourage bringing youth as experts to the table. His main fields of advocacy have been green jobs for youth, just and inclusive transitioning, green and sustainable economic growth and reforms to the multilateral climate finance agenda. For two years Adedeji has been active with YOUNGO, official youth constituency to the UNFCCC, and UN MGCY, where he was a member of the working group on Action for Climate Empowerment and later Contact Point for Youth Event Road2COP26” (YE ROAD2COP26 WG) a working group of YOUNGO dedicated to connect and facilitate the dialogue among youth initiatives and youth engagement on the road-to-COP.
