Join us at the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) in Brussels, where the WFC is co-organising a side-event on 5th June 2018.

When it comes to the development of the energy transition, local communities play a central role in leading the way to a decentralised energy democracy. The Policy Conference organised by the European Commission aiming to share and discuss new policy developments, best practices and sustainable energy ideas. As part of the conference, we will hold a session on the importance of energy communities presenting new roles and pathways communities are currently developing around Europe. The goal is to uncover how, in light of the new definitions in European regulations, energy communities can be used to harness these technologies in a socially innovative way that provides local communities with control, ownership, means to address social needs such as energy poverty, and promotes democratic governance.
