Leaving the World Future Council: A personal note from Stefan Schurig
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
After ten years with the World Future Council, I will be moving on and will be leaving the organisation for a new career step. It was truly an honor for me to serve the organisation since April 2007 and to work with such a great group of highly skilled staff and such a diverse and wise group of Councillors, Honorary Councillors and Advisors. I strongly believe in the World Future Council’s capability to make the world a better place.
The collective wisdom of the distinguished members of the Council combined with clear, policy focused programmes and campaigns, implemented and co-developed by the staff makes the WFC a fantastic, innovative and highly efficient organization. I truly believe that this unique DNA of the World Future Council leads to the impressive impact of its work. I would like to thank again every single staff member for your commitment, your passion and your energy for the WFC in the past ten years.
I am and always will be proud to having had the privilege of working with such a great group of people. What an amazing decade of impact, learning and fun!
Leaving after such a long time is never easy, but once you know that your work will be in good hands, you are looking ahead with much more confidence. I am therefore delighted to announce that Anna Leidreiter, who has been serving this organisation for seven years, has agreed to take over my role as Director Climate & Energy. She has done a fantastic job as Senior Programme Manager in the Climate & Energy department and I have no doubts that she will be excellent in this role.
Lastly I would like to thank Jakob for his tireless effort to further establish and run the organisation. There wouldn’t be a WFC without your inspiration, devotion and encouragement!
I’ve started working for the WFC already before it was officially founded in early 2007 – so yes, it’s hard to say Goodbye. But I am and always will be proud to having had the privilege of working with such a great group of people. What an amazing decade of impact, learning and fun!
I’m now setting up my own project consultancy for renewable energy and sustainable cities and am looking forward to this new chapter. I will remain associated with the WFC as senior advisor and will continue working with our team in China on regenerative cities.
