Sir James R. Mancham

Founding President of the Republic of Seychelles; President, Global Peace Council of the Universal Peace Federation.

Sir James R. Mancham K. BE. PHD (Honorary) was the Founding President of the Republic of Seychelles, and is President of the Global Peace Council of the Universal Peace Federation. He is listed as an Arbitrator within the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and is a senior member of the European Council for Peace and Development (ECPD). A lawyer by profession, he was elected Fellow of the Commerce of the U.K. in 1968. He holds the Certificate of Merit of the International Who’s Who Historical Society in Poetry (1974). An Officier la Légion D’Honneur (France), he is a Knight Commander of the Order of British Empire and recipient of many other decorations. Sir Mancham has authored several books – among them: ‘Reflections and Echoes from Seychelles’, ‘Peace of Mind’; ‘Paradise Raped’; ‘War on America seen from the Indian Ocean’; ‘Personalities of yesterday’ and in 2003 co-edited ‘The future of peace in the 21st century’ published under the aegis of the Eleanor Roosevelt Institute for Justice and Peace in Washington D.C.
