WORLD FUTURE COUNCIL – NonHazCity – Project Manager (f/m/d)
The World Future Council envisions a healthy planet with just and peaceful societies – now and in the future. To achieve this, we identify, develop, highlight, and spread future-just solutions for current challenges humanity is facing and award them with our unique Future Policy Award. Our Council consists of 50 eminent global changemakers from civil society, science, politics, and business. They meet annually at the World Future Forum to discuss the most urgent challenges and policy solutions to them. Jakob von Uexkull, the Founder of the Alternative Nobel Prize, launched the World Future Council in 2007.
For our Head Office in Hamburg, we are looking for a
NonHazCity – Project Manager (f/m/d)
Location: Hamburg, Germany (remote work is partly possible)
Starting date: 1st January 2023
Working hours: 38 hours per week, until 31st of December 2025
Role
You will manage the NonHazCity3 Project for the World Future Council. This EU project addresses the pollution crisis and aims in particular to reduce hazardous substances in buildings, building sites and building materials, to safeguard the environment, to protect human health and to achieve more sustainable buildings. NonHazCity3 will develop solutions, pilot them and elaborate usable guidance on how to substantially reduce these chemicals in homes, workplaces and environment, contributing thereby towards a toxic-free, circular and climate neutral future.
As project manager, you will:
- Represent the World Future Council in the EU project team (more than 20 partners)
- Develop a capacity-building concept together with Baltic Environment Forum
- Prepare training materials and test a pilot training programme
- Conduct capacity-building at municipalities and construction companies
- Plan and implement the NonHazCity Building Award
- Support the planning and hosting of the NonHazCity Award Ceremony
- Prepare brochures, articles, blog entries and commission films
- Manage reporting mechanisms
- Manage and monitor the budget
- Line-manage a student assistant
Your Professional Profile
- Strong commitment to environmental and social justice
- Proven 2+ years of relevant experience
- Academic degree in a relevant field, e.g. architecture, chemistry, sustainability
- Advanced writing, editing and communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines, travel and occasionally attend events during evenings/weekends
- Professional fluency in English and German. Additional language an asset
- Detail-oriented and organised
- High level of self-motivation as well as ability to work as part of a team
- Cultural sensitivity
- EU work permit is required
