WORLD FUTURE COUNCIL – Media and Communications Manager (f/m/d)
The World Future Council envisions a healthy planet with just and peaceful societies – now and in the future. To achieve this, we identify, develop, highlight, and spread future-just solutions for current challenges humanity is facing and award them with our unique Future Policy Award. Our Council consists of 50 eminent global changemakers from civil society, science, politics, and business. They meet annually at the World Future Forum to discuss the most urgent challenges and policy solutions to them. Jakob von Uexkull, the Founder of the Alternative Nobel Prize, launched the World Future Council in 2007.
The World Future Council is looking for a
Media and Communications Manager (f/m/d)
Location: Hamburg, Germany (remote work is partly possible)
Starting date: 1st January 2023
Working hours: 30 hours per week, fixed-term until 31st of December 2024 (with option of extension)
Role
You will coordinate the Media- and Communications team of the World Future Council.
Main responsibilities
- Coordinate on- and offline communication activities on an international level for all working areas (in partnership with Programme Managers and with a strong focus on the rights of children and youth team and the Future Policy Award team)
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with the media
- Write and/or edit content for various purposes (press releases, briefings, website or social content) in German and English
- Support in the planning and hosting of events (e.g., award ceremony, press events)
- Oversee development of on- and offline publications such as the monthly newsletter, leaflets, brochures, annual report
- Manage website strategy and content, review opportunities for development
- Managing all social media activity and seeking opportunities to increase followers and develop advertising strategies
- Manage and develop regular reporting mechanisms to monitor success of all communications activities
- Plan, manage and monitor the communications budget
Profile
- Strong commitment to environmental and social justice
- Proven 2+ years of relevant experience in media and communications roles
- Academic degree in the relevant field (e.g., media or public-relations management)
- Comprehensive PR background and advanced writing and editing skills
- A talent for visual and creative communication including video
- Professional experience in Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn)
- Existing media contacts are an asset
- Experience in working with content management systems is an asset
- Ability to meet deadlines, travel and occasionally attend events during evenings/weekends
- Professional fluency in English and German. Additional language an asset
- Detail-oriented and organised
- High level of self-motivation as well as ability to work as part of a team
- Cultural sensitivity
- EU work permit is required
