Systems of Knowledge Commission
Connecting Theory and Practice
The Expert Commission on Systems of Knowledge brings together Councillors and Advisors sharing the conviction that our ideas about reality determine what we see, what we believe is possible, and therefore what we become.
The overall goal of the Commission is to identify future-foreclosing assumptions (root-causes) across scientific disciplines and expose their enshrinement in social, political and technological practice whilst promoting an alternating worldview through education and policy recommendations.
Campaign objectives will therefore be to
Funds have been secured to conduct research and develop concrete proposals in both strands, Science and Spirituality and Sustainable Economic Policies.
1. With support of the Fetzer Foundation in the US, Councillor Stephen Marglin and Advisor Arthur Zajonc will supervise research on the root causes of current crises by explosing the ideas guiding modern scientific conduct and comparing them with alternative approaches. This research will be fed into two Commission meetings with selected experts, resulting in reports to the WFC and recommendations for its campaign work.
2. A coalition of social banks has provided the core funding for policy work on Future Finance over the next three years. This work will start by asking: How can Finance support sustainable activities that promote wellbeing and social justice of current and future generations of life on this planet? and develop concrete policy proposals guiding the transition towards such a finance system.
