Projects and Campaigns

The WFC designs its policy and project recommendations as global campaigns that involve parliamentary hearings, legislative assistance, tailored mailings, events, and this website, which is envisioned to become a multimedia clearinghouse for information on policies to change the world.

The overarching topic we are addressing right now is climate change: our mission is to clearly define climate stabilization as fundamental necessity and human responsibility for a more just, peaceful and sustainable world for future generations.

Initially our activities are focused on Climate & Energy - on transforming global energy systems. We need a transition to clean, secure, renewable and decentralized energy for all, while reducing the total global demand for energy. Our materials promote existing political solutions that have significant impacts on all these aspects and we seek to build strategic networks between those seeking to act towards this energy renaissance.

We have launched a Power to the People campaign and the online Policy Action on Climate Toolkit (PACT).

The first policy to change the world is the German Renewable Energy Act, a feed-in law obliging energy utilities to buy green electricity from every person who produces it. We have produced various materials on this policy, including a commissioned report by Dr. David Toke from Birmingham University examining the performance of the UK government's Renewables Obligation (RO), and the general case for a Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariff (REFIT). The report has been backed by a number of prominent environmentalists in the UK.

Furthermore, we have been arguing for it both in the media and directly with parliamentarians. We are also preparing targeted mailings and parliamentary hearings for the fall.

Further topics that will be taken up in the climate campaign are: sustainable cities, sustainable food systems, the conservation of rain forest and the establishment of an International Renewable Energy Agency.
