Stefan Schurig, Climate Energy Director

Stefan Schurig, born 1971 in Berlin / Germany, has been working in environmental politics since the early nineties when he became a board member of an environmental youth organisation and was involved in the foundation of the youth organisation of the Green Party. In 1998 he graduated from the Technische Fachhochschule Berlin (TFH) as Diplom Ingenieur (engineer / architecture). After his studies Stefan remained committed to the environmental movement, in particular to climate and energy issues. He started working as press officer for Greenpeace Germany and in this position he was responsible for communicating all energy related issues, later he became team leader of the Greenpeace press-desk. In 2002 he became Head of the Climate and Energy Unit at Greenpeace Germany and a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) of Greenpeace. He has considerably shaped and improved the image of Greenpeace on energy and climate issues in recent years.
