The WFC Management Board

Alexandra Wandel, Management Board and Director of the WFC Head Office in Hamburg

Since April 2007 Alexandra Wandel is executive member of the management board and directs the WFC head office in Hamburg. Previously, she was the European trade and sustainability programme co-ordinator of Friends of the Earth International in Brussels. Between 1999 and 2006, she co-ordinated European NGO activities including at the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conferences in Seattle, Doha, Cancun and Hong Kong and the United Nations World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg.

She was an advisor to the European Commission's Delegation to the Johannesburg Summit and to EU Commissioner Lamy on globalisation, trade and environment on behalf of the major European environmental NGOs: World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Friends of the Earth Europe, Greenpeace and Birdlife. Earlier she worked for Friends of the Earth Middle East in Cairo and Jerusalem, and as an assistant to Eva Quistorp, MEP, and Elisabeth Schroedter, MEP, Brussels. Alexandra has a MA in International Relations, with honours, from the University of Amsterdam and studied political science at the Free University Berlin.
