Future Policy Award 2010
Celebrating the world's best biodiversity policies
Biodiversity, the variety of life, is essential to sustaining the living networks and systems that provide us all with health, wealth, food and the vital services our lives depend on. 2010 marked the International Year of Biodiversity, a celebration of biological diversity and its value for life on Earth. The World Future Council chose the topic of biodiversity for the Future Policy Award 2010 to raise awareness about its acute loss, which is threatening wildlife, the environment and our common future. In the face of the looming biodiversity crisis, policymakers must work urgently towards ambitious and comprehensive biodiversity policies.
