Timothy Armitage, Intern Oceans
Timothy Armitage joined the WFC Brussels offices as an Intern working on the Oceans project in June of 2010. His main areas of activity include the researching and compiling of information on marine conservation and ocean governance issues, specifically within the Pacific Ocean.
A New Zealand national, Timothy has attended Victoria University of Wellington and the University of Canterbury where he has received a first class honors degrees in International Relations and Diplomacy, with a secondment at the Beijing University of Law and Politics. This study has lead to his interest in non-traditional actors in global politics, and also a focus upon Asia-Pacific foreign affairs. He is also currently completing his Master’s thesis at the National Centre for Research on Europe at the University of Canterbury. This thesis looks into the role of the European Union in shaping the interest representation activities of the New Zealand Business Community, and their relation with the New Zealand Government.
Timothy has also recently completed an Internship at the European Parliament where he worked on climate change adaptation policy, with a specific focus upon post-carbon society notions and their political implementation. In his spare time he enjoys snowboarding, skateboarding and is also a keen musician.
