WFC Interns

Andrew Zubiri, Intern Climate and Energy

Andrew Zubiri joined the WFC Climate and Energy section in September 2009. He is studying at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, and is close to completing his Master’s thesis on ‘Agenda-setting and Policymaking. Analysis of the Renewable Energy Law in the Philippines’. In 2008, he worked as an intern at the English Programme of Deutsche Welle Radio in Bonn.
Prior to coming to Germany, he completed a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Human Ecology and Human Settlements Planning at the University of the Philippines in Los Baños. He also worked for two and a half years at the National Economic and Development Authority, coordinating the formulation, evaluation, and review of projects, programs, and policies in the environment sector.
With this WFC internship opportunity, Andrew would like to learn more about renewable energy policy diffusion and advocacy, and gain international experience and insights in the inner workings of a think-tank. He plans to work with an international organization afterwards, and later on do a PhD.
In his free time, Andrew dabbles into photography, writing/blogging, and social networking.
